In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
IHSS provides in-home care for eligible low-income seniors and people with disabilities. Services include housework, meal preparation, laundry, personal care, and accompaniment to medical appointments. Apply through your county social services office.
Meals on Wheels
Home-delivered meals for homebound seniors. Contact your local Area Agency on Aging or call 1-800-510-2020.
CalFresh (Food Assistance)
Many Medicare beneficiaries qualify for CalFresh (California’s SNAP program). Benefits average $200+/month for eligible individuals. Apply at GetCalFresh.org.
Senior Transportation
Many California counties offer free or low-cost transportation for medical appointments and essential errands. Contact your local Area Agency on Aging for options.
PACE Programs
The Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) provides comprehensive medical and social services for frail seniors who qualify for nursing home care but want to remain in the community. Available in select California counties.
